BAREILLY: Four men were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in
robbery of a national bank in Harnahi village of Shahjahanpur district.
The robbery took place on February 6 and the armed accused had made off with Rs 2.24 lakh. SP, Shahjhanpur, R P S Yadav said, “The accused were nabbed in an adjoining village. Cash of Rs 1.15 lakh, the vehicle used in the robbery and some weapons were seized from the accused.”
However, the main accused is still at large.
Police said the accused were nabbed after a tip off from seapoy Vijay Bhan Yadav, posted at Banda police station. The four accused are Mandeep Singh from Pilibhit, Nishant Singh, Amandeep Singh and Nirmal Singh all residents of Barnala (Punjab). The main accused, Inderjeet Singh, also a resident of Barnala, is still at large.
Five armed men had looted the bank of Rs 2.24 lakh. The bank manager, cashier and others were caught off guard as the accused sprayed chilli powder in their eyes and kept them captive in a room. Soon after storming the bank premises, the accused took away the entire CPU connected with CCTV.
